With a musical
career spanning three decades, consisting of more than 15 Top 10 singles with
six number one hits, and gold albums in 1986, '88, '90, and '92, the band
Restless Heart will make an exciting addition to Riverfest on July 31 at 8:30
p.m. this year.
After completely
disbanding in 1996, Restless Heart came back together for one more album in
1998. They remained inactive for the next four years until the five original
band members reunited once again in 2002 to begin working on their "Still
Restless" album released in 2004. The band has continued to make music
ever since. They released an album in 2007 called "25 and Live"
despite the closing of Koch records, the label they joined after their reunion.
Larry Stewart is
the band's lead singer since taking over for Verlon Thompson about 1984. He is
also the band's spokesman. Stewart said they are looking forward to coming to
Wisconsin where they have always had one of their strongest fan bases in this
part of the country.
"I don't
believe we have ever been to Watertown, but we always look forward to going to
Wisconsin," Stewart said. "We are usually up there about every 12-18
months, we've actually got five shows there in two months this summer."
The band is
celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. Stewart said they "feel
lucky and blessed to have had the career they've had."
"You know,
after 25 years we are very thankful to still be this busy," Stewart joked,
"We have more fun than we did before, we sing and play better than we did
before and we really look forward to this time of year."
He said they
were looking forward to reconnecting with old fans, and meeting new ones.
"This is
the band's 25th anniversary and we have the original five members
together," Stewart said. "We want to get out and thank our old fans
for all of their support, and introduce ourselves to some of our newer fans who
know our music, but might not really know us yet."
Stewart again
stressed how grateful they all were to still have the health and the desire to
go on tour and play together 25 years after it all began.
"The only
thing that hasn't gotten better after 25 years is our looks," he laughed.
